First of all, The President, Of Course, has a say in who gets appointed to his cabinet however Fierce debate and speculation in who should be appointed to best aid the president while not blindly following his viewpoints. An example of this can be seen when you look into who President Johnson served under. Abraham Lincoln was famously known for freeing the slaves during the civil war, so, surprisingly, Lincoln Decided to choose Johnson as his vice president. Andrew Johnson was formerly the senator of Tennessee, Andrew johnson was the only U.S senator from a succeeding state that remained loyal to the union. Lincoln knew that Johnson was a man that could help him in his goal in preserving the union; and sadly, that sediment that some politicians even today that still doesn’t share. Flashing forward to the current day we are still plagued with the issue that ever since political parties were formed, Politicians' main concern with making themselves and their respective parties look good instead of working with the good of the country as a whole better. This leads to scenarios where rival parties will intentionally. Interfere with potentially helpful policies or votes only for the reason that the origination of the bills came from the opposing party. I would like to point out that I am not naive enough to suggest that All the Politicians will agree on every topic and every bill, for that would create issues on its own. I would say that the answer lies in the middle in that discussion and collaboration should be conducted by opposing sides in that both parties by themselves cannot see the whole picture however together through discussion they can find the true solution to issues.
To conclude it back in Andrew Jackson’s decision to replace Grant. There is always going to be controversy when it comes to the placement of people into high tier positions; However, as long as careful thought in who is the best person for the position at the time, then the country should run and handle all of its issues.
